The third revision of the Tranquillo cooler is again using the special alignment of the heat pipes to achieve better cooling performance. The design has been optimized to achieve further compatibility with the new motherboards and now the heat sink can be mounted on AMD platforms in four different directions . Speaking of motherboards and sockets there are the supported sockets by the new cooler:
- Intel Socket 775, 1366, 1155, 1156 & 1150:
CPU: All Pentium D/ Pentium 4/ All Celeron D/ All Pentium Dual-Core/ Extreme/ All Core 2 Extreme/ Core 2 Quad/ Core 2 Duo, Core i5, Core i7
- AMD Socket AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2, FM2+:
CPU: All Athlon 64 X2, Athlon 64, All Athlon 64 FX, Opteron, Sempron, Phenom, Phenom II
As far as the cooling goes, again we have single tower heat sink with dimension of 65 (l) x 139 (w) x 153.5 (h) mm , comprised of aluminium fins and pure copper is used for the heat pipes, which are a total of four. The overall weight of the whole assembly is 585 grams, that is if you plan to use it with no additional fan, as there is also an option to mount a second fan in a push/pull configuration.
The current cooling is performed by a single 120 mm Gelid fan (120 (l) x 120 (w) x 25 (h) mm) using Hydro Dynamic Bearing with lifespan of about 50’000 hours before failing. This fan is design with double layer fan blades for optimized performance and it is able to generate a static pressure of 2.08 mmAq. As far as the operating RPM of the fan they are between 750 and 1500, meaning also that the produced noise will be tolerable at minimum of 12 dBA and the maximum of 26.5 dBA, with maximum airflow of 107.95 cubic meters per hour.
PWM regulation is updated as well to remove previous clicking noises from the fan in the last revision. Additionally Gelid has supplied the package with the award winning GC-2 thermal compound to complement the overall performance and re-design of the Tranquillo rev.3 CPU cooler.
