Noctua NF-A12x25, NA-SFMA1 and Redux Line NF-P12

Noctua NF-A12x25

Noctua has just introduced their latest and greatest NF-A12x25. They’ve spent 4.5 years in development and this is by far their biggest and demanding projects. It’s a fan that brings lots of technological features on board and also packs a performance punch. Noctua NF-A12x25 features an AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame with physical dimensions of 120mm x 120mm x 25mm painted in the familiar Noctua color.

A premium fan all around, with the frame featuring Flow Acceleration Channels and Stepped Inlet Design. Also, Inner Surface Microstructures reducing noise and providing increased airflow. A record tight tip clearance of only 0.5mm was made possible by using special polymer – Sterrox® liquid-crystal polymer (LCP) compound. Metal reinforcements in the motor hub and axis allow excellent performance, longevity, and precision. This fan is capable of handling lots of different situations and will provide sufficient and adequate performance. Integrated anti-vibration pads and anti-vibration gasket for water-cooling radiators allow for quiet operation of the fan in almost any situation. The impeller is featuring an SSO2 bearing providing stability, longevity and extreme precision.

NF-A12x25 comes in three different versions – NF-A12x25 PWM, NF-A12x25 FLX, and NF-A12x25 ULN.

NF-A12x25 PWM features a 4-pin PWM connector and a Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 2000 to 1700rpm. It delivers 102,1 m³/h at 2000 RPM and at 1700 RPM it provides 84,5 m³/h of airflow. The static pressure is 2,34 mm H₂O at 2000 RPM which is great for cooling water radiators. Acoustical noise is 22,6 dB(A) when spinning at maximum RPM.

The NF-A12x25 FLX version provides 2000/1700/1350rpm speed settings via the provided Low-Noise Adaptors. The airflow levels are 102,1 m³/h @ 2000 RPM, 84,5 m³/h @ 1700 RPM via the LNA and 64,5 m³/h via the ULNA. 22,6 dB(A) is the maximum noise output, where the minimum when the fan is spinning is 14,2 dB(A) via the ULNA. At maximum speed, the static pressure is 2,34 mm H₂O.

NF-A12x25 ULN provides super-slow 1200/900rpm speed settings for ultra-low-noise applications and environments where noise is not tolerated. 55,7 m³/h is the maximum airflow level that the fan can deliver at 1200 RPM, whereas at 900 this drops down to 39,4 m³/h. This is also the quietest version of the fan with a measured acoustical noise of only 12,1 dB(A). Static pressure at maximum rotational speed is 0,82 mm H₂O.


Redux Line NF-P12

NF-A12x25 becomes the most advanced Noctua fan in the 120mm segment and the Redux Line NF-P12 comes at a more affordable price level. Featuring a two-tone grey color scheme of the impeller and frame, the NF-P12 comes in four versions, all of which have the same frame size of 120mm x 120 mm x 25 mm. Pressure-optimized Nine-Blade Design delivers great cooling performance and Vortex-Control Notches to reduce the noise output significantly. The award-winning SSO-Bearing provides quiet operation and long-term stability.

NF-P12 Redux 1700 PWM delivers 120,2 m³/h of airflow when spinning at 1700 PRM and 25,1 dB(A) of noise output. This fan delivers a static pressure of around 2,83 mm H₂O. It’s powered by a 4-pin PWM fan connector.

NF-P12 Redux 1300 PWM has a maximum rotational speed of 1300 RPM, achieving 92,3 m³/h of airflow. 19,8 dB(A) is the maximum noise output, which is very quiet and the static pressure comes in at 1,68 mm H₂O. It’s powered by a 4-pin PWM fan connector.

NF-P12 Redux 1300 also has a maximum rotational speed of 1300 RPM and achieves the same airflow – as the PWM version 92,3 m³/h. It’s powered by a 3-pin fan connector.

NF-P12 Redux 900 is achieving 63,4 m³/h of airflow at maximum RPM of 900. This is the quietest of the bunch, with 12,6 dB(A) noise level. Static pressure here is also the lowest – 1,21 mm H₂O.

All of the Redux fans operate at a maximum of 12 volts.



NA-SFMA1 is a set of two black NA-FMA1 fan mounting adaptors that allow you to install NF-A12x25 and several other Noctua 120mm fans on 140mm water cooling radiators. This allows for increased static pressure provided by NF-A12x25 when compared to 140mm fans (pre-installed on your water cooling radiator). In addition to the mount, there are eight NA-AV4 anti-vibration mounts, which dampen even the slightest vibrations.

“Caution (quoted from Noctua website): the NA-SFMA1 has been specifically designed to ensure an optimal fit of the NF-A12x25 fan on water-cooling radiators. It is also compatible with the NF-F12, NF-S12A and NF-P12 redux models as well as some 120mm fans from other manufacturers, but due to the special adaption to the NF-A12x25’s frame shape, not all 120mm fans fit. The NA-SFMA1 can be used for other screw-mount applications such as installing the NF-A12x25 in 140mm case fan placements, but may not work with 140mm applications that feature different methods of mounting (e.g. CPU coolers with custom fan clips).”
