The FW Fan series from Silverstone consist of four different sized fans going from 80mm up to 120mm. Each fan has different RPM levels and characteristics, but the common fact is that all of FW fans are design to deliver high performance airflow with lowered noise levels, making them suitable for demanding environment such as gaming and overclocked stations. All the fans have a fresh design scheme with white propeller blades and strikingly blue frame, however some users may not find the color scheme suitable as it is not very popular.
FW fans have 4-pin PWM fan connector and cable length of 300mm.
Silverstone FW 81
The smallest fan of the bunch is 80mm with standard frame size of 80 x 80 x 25mm and weight of 73 grams. Start voltage is ~4.5 volts with rated power of 4.2 Watts (maximum). FW81 operates from 1200 up to 3000 revolutions per minute and is able to generate airflow from 12 up to 29.5 CFM. Air pressure is rated from 0.45 – 2.9 mm H2O.
Noise level generated by FW81 is at 30 dBA maximum, also achieved by the rubber fan mounts that absorb some of the vibrations.
Second in size is the 92mm fan, that has physical dimensions of 92 x 92 x 25mm and weighs 86 grams. FW91 starts to spin at 4.7 volts and has rated power from 0.72 to 3.36 Watts. It operates from 1500 to 2800 RPM and produces airflow of 49.5 CFM at maximum revolutions. Minimum airflow generated from FW91 is 26.8 CFM. The static air pressure is measured at 1.05 – 2.76 mm H2O.
FW91 is provided with anti-vibration rubber pads and rubber fan mounts, enabling it to produce noise level of 27.7 dBA at maximum speed.
This fan is one of the two versions of FW 120mm options and it features a standard 120 x 120 x 25mm frame and weight of 130 grams. Operating voltage is from 5 V up to 12 V, which gives RPM range of 1000 – 1800 and produces airflow of 42.6 76.5 CFM. The static pressure is 0.65 – 2.1 mm H2O.
Noise level that FW122 produces ranges between 18.4 – 32.3 dBA, depending on the revolutions. This unit is also equipped with anti-vibration rubber pads and rubber fan mounts.
Another version of the 120mm option is FW121 with frame size of 120 x 120 x 25mm and weight of 109 grams. The voltage range is the same as the FW122 – the fan makes full rotation at 5 volts and 12 volts is the maximum operating voltage. As for the rated power it is from 0.24 – 1.08 Watts and speed is from 800 up to 2000 RPM. Airflow generated by FW121 is between 13.1 – 32.6 CFM with static pressure of 0.31 – 1.52 mm H2O.
Noise levels for Fw121 are from 5.4 – 25.3 dBA and the fan is equipped with rubber fan mounts for vibration absorption.
Silverstone uses Long Life Sleeve bearing for the motors, responsible for more than 40 000 hours of MTBF and all of the fans have a maximum operating voltage of 12 volts.
