Computex 2014: Noctua

This year at the Computex show there are so many new and very interesting things which I believe will be nice to put in the spot lights. So let’s check what Noctua has to offer…

World’s 1st CPU cooler with R-ANC

Last year Noctua introduced the first cooler prototype based on the R-ANC technology and this year they expanded the details and the progress regarding the product, which is based on the award-winning NH-D1 heatsink and NF-A14 140mm fan, featuring the RotoSub® Active Noise Cancellation (R-ANC) technology and of course the NF-A14 140mm impeller with 30mm FocusedFlow™ frame for further improved static pressure.

The cooler features custom designed hood for improved pressure distribution and acoustic shielding and according to the official technical information it is compatible with RAM modules of up to 70mm height.

Asymmetrical 150mm CPU Coolers

And here comes something which is really interesting – Asymmetrical 150mm CPU Coolers based on the award-winning NH-U14S & NH-D15 featuring asymmetrical design, which  will clear the top PCIe slot on most motherboards on the market. The coolers offer adjusted heatpipe design and fin layout to ensure comparable performance.

92mm D-type 3U CPU Cooler

This little cutie is with maximum height of 110mm, 95x95mm footprint, 100% RAM compatibility, 100% compatibility with PCIe cards on mini-ITX motherboards and cooled by 92mm A-series fan and suitable to be used with an additional 92mm fan.

92mm U-type CPU Cooler

According to the official information from Noctua, the product offers 95x95mm footprint, 100% RAM compatibility, 100% compatibility with PCIe cards on mini-ITX motherboards and cooled by 92mm A-series fan and suitable to be used with additional 92mm fan too.

Cube Base Heatpipes

Apart from these new cooler models, there is one thing which looks very interesting and, most of all, very promising.

Seems that Noctua developed a new type of cooling pipes, which will allow new possibilities in cooler design: perpendicular heatpipe orientation without bending, which will lead to more heatpipes to be placed directly above the heat source, which will allow to avoid heatspreader bottleneck in designs with more than 6 heatpipes. The picture above is actually a modified Noctua NH-U14s featuring 9 heatpipes. Pretty impressive.

Flocked Surface Fan

Noctua introduced brand new 120mm fans featuring the so called flocked surface, which is a custom polyamide flock with fiber length and thickness tuned for optimal noise reduction at typical Reynolds numbers. The  flock coating creates turbulent boundary layer similar to golf ball dimples, which results in better flow attachment and reduced flow separation. This feature will reduce reflection of noise due to material-specific dampening and absorption properties and will provide results with 2dB(A) lower noise levels in low impedance applications.

80, 90 and 200mm A-series fans

I believe in this year we will see some fan reinforcements coming on board featuring a few new models part of the A series offering flow acceleration channels, AAO-Frame (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation), Inner Surface Microstructures, SSO2 Bearing and Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads in the typical for the company colour scheme.

Apart from that we will see the first slim 120mm fan in the company portfolio.

This model will provide dimensions of 120 x 15mm, which is actually a pretty thin design featuring Flow Acceleration Channels, AAO-Frame (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation), Inner Surface Microstructures, Integrated Anti-Vibration Pads, SSO2 Bearing and really modern design. From what we can see from the picture above, the propeller shows a completely new design for the company.
