T40F-RF is a very interesting new cooler in Enermax’s portfolio and packs up quite a few unique features that seem very tasteful at this low price point.
Physical dimensions of the heat sink are 126(L) x 40(W) x 161.7(H) mm and total weight of 460 grams. In terms of the materials used they’re aluminum for the fin stack and copper for the heat pipes, which are 4 in total with diameter of Ø6 mm.
The cooler comes with thermal grease in the package – Dow Corning® TC-5121 so you needn’t worry about buying a separate paste. Interestingly enough Enermax states that this small guy can cool CPU’s with 180 Watts of TDP, which is astonishing and would require testing so we make sure of that claim.
Here are some of the features it offers also:

- VGF (Vortex Generator Flow), to increase air convection in-between the fins
- VEF (Vacuum Effect Flow), to optimize airflow inside the cooler
- HDT (Heat-pipe Direct Touch), to improve thermal conductivity

Cooling the heat sink is one 140mm fan with a square frame and size of 140 x 140 x 26 mm working in the RPM range of 500 ~ 1200 RPM, of course controlled by PWM via 4-pin fan connecter, which is a nice feature to have. The fan generates airflow of 65.56 CFM at maximum RPM and the static pressure is also solid at 1.55 mmH2O. Bearing type used in this fan is Twister Bearing, thus the increased life expectancy of the fan – around 160,000 hours MTBF. Adding a second fan is also available.
It is impressive to see that the noise generated is quite low, between 10 ~ 19 dBA.
As this is a new cooler it comes with a mounting kit already compatible with newest Intel socket 1151. Other compatibility options are:
