Thermalright Macho 90

The Macho 90 is a small CPU cooler that is aimed mostly at the compact system builds. Made from hybrid material as Thermalright calls it, it has dimension of 102 (L) x 127 (W) x 135 (H) (with fan) and weighs in at 552 grams, including the fan as well. The top fin is black anodized aluminum, which is a nice view and adds to the value of the cooler. The heat sink has a flat, nickel plated copper contact plate, which then expands to 4 x 6 mm copper heat pipes, nickel plated again. Total amount of the aluminum fins is 27, all with holes to direct the airflow and improve performance.

Macho 90 is equipped with one 92 mm fan with standard frame size of 92 x 92 x 25 mm, 7 propeller blades and black/white contrast color scheme. PWM control is included and the small fan is able to operate at RPM between 800 – 2,000 without being very noisy – 21 – 27 dB(A). Bearing type is Sleeve and the airflow generated is 26.8 – 66.9 m³/h, depending on RPM level, of course.

This compact piece of cooling is compatible with both Intel and AMD, however Thermalright recommends that the cooler is not used for 2011 Intel socket, as it is not designed to handle that TDP. You can have a go at mounting the cooler on a 2011 socket with purchasing the additional mounting kit separately.

  1. Recently some of the major companies introduced mini ITX mobos with various features and very serious capabilities, which can support overclocking of the most powerful CPUs on the market.
And I am really happy to see that there are smaller versions of the best performing TR coolers especially for these motherboards.

  2. Great little cooler! Been playing with one the last few days and really like it.
